poe.mi (milan, oct 21st - nov 23rd, 2008) is an exhibition and performing festival that brings writing, media and visual arts together, trying to draw some maps in the territories of artistic and literary production today in italy.

in this first edition, “tiriamo le reti” (let’s pull the nets up), poe.mi focuses on the world wide web, and especially on blogs, as new leading channel for much of the new italian poetry -- in some cases directly in touch with other foreign poets as well as in relation with other kinds of arts, and often with results and qualitative experiences that can easily be compared with traditional paper publishing.

blogs, soon after a few years they first appeared on the internet, seem to have become a very lively context and a contact point for different poetics and literary identities that, not long ago, were very far from each other and in need of a continuous mediation. at the same time, they appear to be the natural environment of literary production that uses the new dimensions and modalities offered by the net.

poe.mi takes place in three different locations in milan, each one dedicated to a specific aspect of the festival: AR.RI.VI (archivio ricerca visiva, via botticelli 8); casa della poesia (palazzina liberty, largo marinai d’italia); il punto rosso (via guglielmo pepe 14).

International Media Poetry Contest

For its tenth edition (May 2009), the International Poetry Biennial is pleased to announce an International Media Poetry Contest.

Works considered "media poetry" are those that place contemporary technologies at the service of poetry, be it within the framework of a performance or in that of a recorded and projectable work. Among the many forms accepted are included videopoetry, digital poetry, multimedia poetry, sound poetry, interactive poetry, and poetic installations in physical space or on the Internet. Works that illustrate a poem will not be considered (these are works that use sound or images to represent or complement a poem, for example). There are no restrictions regarding the form or content of the media poems submitted.

Work presented shall not exceed 15 minutes and can be presented in the form CD, DVD, or on the Internet.

Application: Candidates willing to submit their work to the International of Media Poetry Contest shall express their intention via email before December 31st, 2007.

To do so they shall write an email to: direction@biennaledespoetes.fr

The works submitted shall arrive at the Poetry Biennial's office (11 rue Ferdinand Roussel 94200 Ivry-sur-Seine France) before December 31st, 2008. If the work is online, the Internet address shall arrive via email on this date.

A jury made up of ten international artists will examine the works and will allot the Media Poetry Prize 2009. The prize will be given to the winner during a special ceremony to be realized during the Poetry Biennial.

The prize winner will choose between being invited to Paris for one week with all expenses paid during the Poetry Biennial or the equivalent amount in cash. Participation in the contest automatically authorizes the Biennial to publicly exhibit submitted works. Unless otherwise specified, the copyright of the works remains with the artists.

Pour sa dixième édition (mai 2009), la Biennale Internationale des Poètes (11 rue Ferdinand Roussel 94200 Ivry-sur-Seine France), lance un concours international de poésie-média.

Sera considérée comme poésie-média toute œuvre mettant les technologies contemporaines au service de la poésie que ce soit dans le cadre d'une performance ou dans celui d'une œuvre enregistrée et projetable : vidéo-poésie, poésie numérique, poésie multimédia, poésie sonore, poésie interactive, installation poétique sur site Internet ou dans un espace quelconque, etc. Ne seront toutefois pas considérées comme telles des œuvres qui ne seraient qu'illustratives comme la mise en musique ou en image de textes poétiques. Les thématiques et les formes utilisées sont libres.

L'œuvre présentée ne devra pas excéder une durée de 15 minutes et pourra être présentée au concours sous forme d'enregistrement CD ou DVD ou sur un site Internet.

Inscription : les candidats au concours devront déclarer par mail leur intention de participation avant le 31 décembre 2007 à l'adresse suivante : direction@biennaledespoetes.fr

La remise des œuvres devra intervenir avant le 31 décembre 2008 soit en communicant l'adresse Internet d'un site à l'adresse mail ci-dessus, soit par envoi d'un enregistrement CD ou DVD à l'adresse de la biennale.

Un jury constitué d'une dizaine d'artistes internationaux examinera les œuvres et attribuera le prix Poesie-media 2009; la remise du prix s'effectura à Paris dans le cadre du festival lors d'une journée consacrée à la poésie-média.

Le lauréat du prix sera selon son choix invité à Paris une semaine tous frais payés lors de la dixième biennale Internationale, soi son équivalent en argent.

Les artistes participants s'engagent à autoriser la présentation publique des œuvres créées dans le cadre du concours mais, sauf accord spécifique contraire, en conservent l'entière propriété.
