InVerse has filled a need in Rome for a forum in which to hear and discuss poetry, and the brilliant idea of offering Italian poetry in translation made the project an instant success and a must date on the calendar of Italian poets. In hosting InVerse, John Cabot University is true to its deepest mission and commitment: to bring together Anglo-American and Italian cultures. Text Festival, 2011

Welcome to the Text Festival.

The Text Festival in Bury is an internationally recognised event investigating contemporary language art (poetry, text art, sound and media text, live art). Opening on 29 April 2011, the next Festival will be its third manifestation and run into July.

Against the background of global stylistic multiplicity, the use of language spans many artforms and may even be a unifying field of enquiry, a new definition and a new field of international linguistic art practice and dialogue. The Bury Festival is the leading focus of language in 21st Century art.

The Festival specialises in experiments, in new experiences, in performances and exhibitions that mix artforms in ground-breaking combinations that challenge traditional language art boundaries and offer artists a forum for dialogue and exchange of ideas.

mOnocle-Lash Anti-Press news

mOnocle-Lash has been silent but not idle this winter, and are ready to announce the release of five new publications (including one at 1,000 pages in three volumes!), plus some new distro material.
All are available via the mOnocle-Lash Website.

This release nearly coincides with the Marginal Arts Festival in Roanoke Virginia, which will be bringing together many scattered members of the mOnocle-Lash family including John M. Bennett, Bradley Chriss, Reed Altemus, Megan Blafas, bela b. Grimm, Jim Leftwich, Tomislav Butkivic, Keith Buchholz, Warren Fry, Tom Cassidy, Olchar Lindsann, and others in he Fluxus and Eternal Network. The Prelude, Part II, trans. Fast Sedan Nellson. Nellson informs us that he is within pages of completing the second volume of his long-awaited translation of Wordsworth's long-winded epic The Prelude into Even-More-Boring-And-Trite.

Ubu Enchained, trans. Amy Oliver & Ubu Roi Special Edition. Two different Post-Neo takes on Ubu: British Post-Neo Amy Oliver's translation of Ubu Enchained, which served as the script for the American Post-Neo production of the play in Roanoke, VA in A.Da. 93 (2009), and a special edition DVD of Lindsann, Lennard & Lennard's A.Da. 89 (2005) film version of Ubu Roi, with audio commentary and other questionable goodies.

Scoria of the Bouzingo & Romanticist Manifestos. Translation is still afoot, but keep an eye out for the first printed fruits of the Bouzingo project: an anthology of writings and images of the Jeunes-France/Bouzingo group with introduction and short bios of the members; and a collection of manifestos, prefaces, polemics and theoretical texts from the French Romanticist community that will trace the context and emergence of the first(?) avant-gardes in the 1820s and '30s in the words of the participants themselves.

PUNTO CRITICO

Punto Critico is conceived as a space for critical discussion regarding the contemporary, particularly in literature.

It is a blog and at the same time a true digital archive, indexed by themes and authors (who will also host the contents kept here).

The driving intention is to create a space online for critical analysis and for proposals, but also for “republication” and the archiving of critical interventions, essays, and materials: and thus to open an area for serious discussion regarding the contemporary, which is still inexistent in Italy. A space in which some of the principal Italian writers and critics can be in dialogue, interact, and confront one another frankly—yet always rigorously.
