I just received a letter from Alessandro Giovinazzo, organizer of the Cesare Pavese Festival in Torino. He's looking for American individuals and institutions interested in helping him organize a celebration of the centenary of Pavese's birth in 2008:
I am part of the Associazione Cultura & Territorio of Torino and the Cesare Pavese Foundation. This year was the 6th edition of the Pavese Festival and, because of its great success and since 2008 will be the centenary of Pavese's birth, we are planning to bring the Festival to the USA. It would be a good way to establish a new connection between Italy and USA, based on a poet who was a great appreciator and translator of American literature.
The project involves music and theatre-poetry but we are open to new ideas. We have thought of the American South as a place to stage this or include in our tour, starting from New Orleans perhaps. Pavese felt very connected to jazz, and jazz has always been a great part of our festivals.
These are the reasons why I am looking for people, foundations and institutions interested in working with us on this project.
Best Regards,
Alessandro Giovinazzo
