AMERARCANA: A Bird & Beckett Review - Reading & Celebration

Friends, Kin, Complete Strangers,

Come on down to Bird & Beckett Books this weekend to celebrate the publication of the first of what's to be an annual literary review, AMERARCANA 2010, with a reading that will feature, in person, Ammiel Alcalay, Carla Badillo Coronado, Micah Ballard, Walker Brents III, Neeli Cherkovski, Maggie Cleveland, Barry Gifford, Jack Hirschman, John Landry & Marina Lazzara. It all goes down Sunday, April 11th from 1 to 4 pm, at the bookshop, 653 Chenery Street, San Francisco - two blocks from the Glen Park BART Station & just off the 280 (Monterey Blvd exit from downtown, San Jose Blvd exit from the penninsula). We'll procede in the above order, more or less, with a pair of brief intermissions to stretch legs, fill cups, say hello to late arrivals, etc. Please come if you can & spread the word around. It promises to be a very fine afternoon - at 5:00 the bookshop will host the Rachid Haliahl Ensemble, playing music of the Fertile Cresecent, from Morocco to Egypt to the Perisan Gulf. If you can't make it, you can tune in live on the Bird & Beckett website, too - though of course it's not quite the same.
